Highlights of Gordon Brown's visit to China Monday, January 21, 2008 The Prime Minister concluded a successful visit to China over the weekend. The key points so far as British businesses are concerned are: Beijing 1. Prime Minister spoke repeatedly of a "new strategic partnership" between the UK and China. He said he believed such a relationship would help create "tens of thousands" of jobs for British people. In his speech to the UK-China Business Summit (18th January), he said he saw the rise of China as an "opportunity" not a threat. China is a vast potential market for British companies and the UK is the destination of choice for Chinese business and Chinese investment. bi-lingual volunteers for World Travel Market 14th November Monday, August 20, 2007 China the Future of Travel is a travel industry forum on China's growing outbound tourism market, organised by ChinaContact. The forum will host about 180 delegates from Europe and North America as well as a delegation of Chinese travel agents and travel media journalists. World Travel Market is the largest travel trade exhibition in Europe, held from 12-15 November at ExCel, London. ChinaContact is calling for 5 bi-lingual volunteers who are interested to learn more about the travel industry and China's place in it. Volunteers need to speak good English and Mandarin Chinese. Other Chinese dialects (Shanghainese, Cantonese) are beneficial. Prior experience, or interest in, the travel industry is preferred. The role of volunteers will be to assist with registration and logistics on the day, and help interpret conversations between the Western and Chinese delegates.
