What is going on in this hub...
What about an offline meeting (28th November 2007) Friday, August 22, 2008 This idea already had been suggested, and I think would allow Viadeo Manchester to take off business wise. What do you think? > 8 months already!!! Can we organise a business network meeting for the next week, may be the next thursday or friday. We just have to find a friendly cafe for that. Is anyone interesting for that? FVB |

Exhibition at Manchester Art Gallery Thursday, February 28, 2008 Jun Nguyen-Hatsushiba 23. Feb - 1. Jun 08 Manchester Art Gallery http://www.artrabbit.com/events/event/4660/jun_nguyen_hatsushiba Jun Nguyen-Hatsushiba is one of the most exciting Asian artists to have emerged in recent years. This retrospective is his first major UK exhibition. The exhibition draws together an outstanding selection of the artist’s work and includes a large-scale installation The Globe Project: The Garden of Globes (2007). Further new works will also feature, including a film The Ground, The Root, and the Air: The Passing of the Bodhi Tree (2007) and a new specially commissioned print for Manchester. Jun Nguyen-Hatsushiba is probably best known for his mesmerising underwater films depicting divers as they perform a traditional Chinese dragon dance in the sea; as they paint portraits underwater, and local fishermen pulling rickshaws along the seabed. In these films, as in much of his work, references are frequently made to the artist’s Asian heritage, exploring themes of tradition, ... |

About Sweeney Todd Friday, February 8, 2008 What do you think of Tim Burton's the latest work Sweeney Todd? What do you think? It received very good reviews in many media. However, my personal opinion about it is pretty much the opposite. His previous works like Nightmare Before Christmas and Corpse Bride were hailed by the goth crowd. They were sinister but with a sense of innocence. Of course, both works were intended for a younger audience. Sweeney Todd is rated 18+. The violence and gore in the film is unnecessary for me. Sweeney Todd is a musical with not very interesting music. Danny Elfman composed great music for Tim Burton's previous films. I haven't done the search about where the music come from this time. The sing of the main actors and actresses were good. Music should be a main feature for this film but it was just not memorable or carry out most of the story. The film seems very childish to me but the audiences need to be over 18 to take the violence and gore scenes. Isn't it a mismatch? Tim Burton made a short animation called ... |
