farniente in our house and balades to the MERCANTUR PARK
Saturday, January 31, 2009

This beautifully rugged national park is only an hour's drive from our house ,

yet it's another world.

If the beautiful mountain streams and lakes set in the valleys of 3000m-high mountains don't make you feel apart from civilization, a hike through the Vallée des Merveilles with 100,000 bronze-age rock engravings might do it.

Alpes-Maritimes (06)
Altitude: (Cime de Gélas) to 3143 m

Nearby: | Auron | Casterino | Isola | Saint Etienne-de-Tinée | Saint Martin-Vésubie | Tende | Valberg |

Below: | Cattle? | Vallee des Merveilles | Contacts | Hiking | Lodging Hotels |

The park is the home of chamois, Ibex (bouquetin), mountain goat (mouflon), as well as marmots, white hares and cattle. The symbolic flower of the Parc du Mercantour was (until 1990) the Saxifrage de multifeuil (saxifraga floridenta).

We camped out one night on a flat grassy spot between the rocks just above Lac Nègre. Just before sunset I saw a group of chamois coming down ...

BONNE NOUVELLE ET

excellente surprise :

Lu Chunsheng's work consists of brooding films and photographs which appear preoccupied with the Industrial Era and Communist History. However, the stories told via his films are more mystic than nostalgic. There is a surrealist attitude to his videos; using fixed camera positions, endless drawn-out shots and seemingly amateurish shooting techniques, he documents human behavior in inexplicable and often bizarre situations. Unlike most of his fellow artists emerging from the same generation, he does not focus on the estrangement following an accelerated urbanization (including its stream of rapidly moving images and perplexed inhabitants). Instead, he has developed an oeuvre where ...
