Me, You, the Cosmos and Other People is the most significant exhibition of Mackintosh?s work staged to date, and will present newly commissioned drawings, installation and stop motion animation together with a selection of Mackintosh's recent works. It is one of the best known of fairy tales, and its plot has been used and parodied by many cartoonists and comedians, its best known line ("Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair") having entered popular culture. Life is harsh and the angry sun burns down on the parched earth. A desperate father whispers gently to his baby daughter, 'I will never forget you - I love you' and leaves her under a rapunzel plant. With characteristic fun, puppetry, physical theatre, live music and animation, Kneehigh Theatre creates a special folktale of loveable rogues, magic pigs, evil brothers and, of course, enduring love, set in an Italian landscape. A fierce, funny and brave heroine fights for her independence, ... |
