Some more weekend reading... jeudi 18 juin 2009 I just received this in my in-box and thought it might cheer up some of you. A group of professional people posed this question to a group of 4 to 8 year-olds, 'What does love mean? 'When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint her toenails anymore. So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That's love.' Rebecca- age 8 'When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You just know that your name is safe in their mouth.' Billy - age 4 'Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other.' Karl - age 5 'Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French fries without making them give you any of theirs.' Chrissy - age 6 'Love is what makes you smile when you're tired.' Some weekend reading... vendredi 12 juin 2009 These were posted on an Australian Tourism Website and the answers are the actual responses by the website officials, who obviously have a great sense of humour Q: Does it ever get windy in Australia ? I have never seen it rain on TV, how do the plants grow? ( UK ). A: We import all plants fully grown and then just sit around watching them die. __________________________________________________ Q: Will I be able to see kangaroos in the street? ( USA ) A: Depends how much you've been drinking. __________________________________________________ Q: I want to walk from Perth to Sydney - can I follow the railroad tracks? ( Sweden ) A: Sure, it's only three thousand miles, take lots of water. __________________________________________________ Q: Are there any ATMs (cash machines) in Australia ? Can you send me a list of them in Brisbane , Cairns ,Townsville and HerveyBay ? ( UK ) A: What did your last slave die of? __________________________________________________ Q: Can ... Translating a job name lundi 8 juin 2009 Hi everybody, I'm currently trying to translate my French CV to English, and I wonder how I could translate the job "Ingénieur systèmes" in the IT field. I've thought about translating it just to "Systems engineer", but the fact is that it doesn't look very accurate, as the positions I find on job search engines are not exactly what I expected. Has someone a better translation for it :)? Thanks ! Neil Minkley Consultant et formateur (free-lance, en portage salarial chez Intervenance) |

Yes, it's a good idea... vendredi 15 mai 2009 For those who want to launch into a discussion in English here is the ideal place to do it. Don't hesitate to express yourselves freely or to make mistakes. The most important thing is to communicate as clearly as you can and say what you have to say. See you around the coffee machine soon. |
