Fishing Industry Analyst
Salary £30,000 - 33,000
York, UK (NFFO secondment)
Seafish is a UK body providing research and promotional support to the seafood industry. The organisation has an innovative, 'can do' approach and delivers a broad range of services, projects and research to stakeholders.
We currently have a requirement for an Industry Analyst to design, manage and carry out appropriate fisheries research and analysis to support the needs of the National Federation of Fishermen's Organisations (NFFO) and the English fleet. This will involve preparing and delivering government and industry briefings, based on research and analysis of latest stock advice and available biological, management and socio-economic data. You will contribute to various industry-wide strategic and economic initiatives to support policy decisions, as well as helping fishermen to design projects suitable for funding.
You will hold either a first degree in Economics or similar or relevant post graduation qualification, with strong economics content. Fisheries experience would be a strong advantage.
You will have the ability to understand the key relationships in complex problems and situations, coupled with the ability to synthesise reports and perspectives (economic, biological, technical) clearly and concisely. As well as having strong report writing skills you will be advanced in the use of computers for project planning, financial and statistical analysis and presentations with the ability to work to tight timescales.
You will be required to travel around the UK and a driving licence is essential. Occasional travel in Europe may also be required.
Our excellent benefits package includes generous leave, private health care and pension scheme.
