Hard to track Linux stats

Nobody has come out with a perfect way to count the amount of open source software in use, which makes it difficult to fully track the strength or weakness of Linux in the market.
This creates problems for both the IT customer and the vendors themselves, stated Dan Kusnetzky, principal analyst at the Kusnetzky Group and a former IDC vice president of system software research.
