The Company: DPWN Inhouse Consulting As the consulting arm of Deutsche Post World Net (DPWN), Inhouse Consulting (IC) executes projects for all the companies of the DPWN group: Deutsche Post, DHL and Postbank, as well as the Corporate Organization. IC realizes high-level, strategic projects as well as smaller, implementation projects across business units. IC has established a global footprint matching the structure of DPWN: its main office is located in Bonn near to the Global Headquarters, it established an office in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA, home of DHL US, and it recently opened an office in Singapore, where DHL Asia Pacific is headquartered. Strong with 120 consultants and growing at a very rapid pace (55 new consultants were hired so far in 2006 alone) IC is a vibrant structure within a giant organization, which provides with lots of development opportunities. 70% of the employees leaving IC move into a managerial position inside DPWN. My missions: I realized several missions for different companies of the DPWN Group. After working several months for the Mail business (Deutsche Post AG) in Bonn, I had the opportunity to support DHL Express in France (5 months) and in the USA (7 months). I also participated to the development of a new Group-wide initiative for the Corporate Development department. Through those missions I gained in-depth knowledge of some parts of DPWN. Project natures ranged from strategic turn-arounds to product marketing and to internal re-organization. | |

Masterfoods developed internally a tool to analyze efficiency of TV commercials. I was in charge of piloting that tool in the UK (advertisement budget of several hundred million euros) and of preparing the rollout in other countries. As an intern my mission was essentially to be the relay of the Brussels-based program director in the UK. I worked autonomously and helped coordinate the work of both internal and external parties (Masterfoods UK and Europe, market research agencies, media agencies, etc.). Through that experience I gained critical communication skills in a cross-cultural environment and developed a full set of project management skills. This internship paved the way that led me to take on a job as an inhouse consultant for Deutsche Post World Net. | |
