Part of the "Converging IMS Applications" division, "Ambient Services" team, focused on one product concept called “Context Services”. Context-aware applications use context to provide relevant information and/or services to the user, where relevancy depends on the user’s context, such as his tasks, localization, etc. Therefore, context is considered as any information that can be used to characterise the situation of an entity, where an entity can be a person, place, or object that is considered relevant to the interaction between a user and an application, including the user and application themselves. Context-aware applications will be fully integrated to human life in the future and with the popularity of personal mobile devices, personalised context sensitive services must be provided for their everyday life. The main goals of the product concept are: 1. Provides PDA/SmartPhone users with contextual services (localized services, multi-modal services…) 2. Support seamless and costless integration in PDA/Smartphone software 3. Support various levels/degrees of context concept (from physical to logical/semantical worlds) 4. Allow services to be published and accessed using WEB technologies 5. Allow dynamic evolution/enhancement of the whole system 6. Support gateway to other networks (GSM, 3G…) At the moment I am in charge of realizing the gateway to other networks – we have Web services on the server part and we want to have a product that interacts with the IMS world. I must realize a web services server that listens for any modification in the user's context information. Using Java I must send SIP messages in order to update the presence in the Presence Server(built on Alcatel's IMS platform). | |
