While his passion is and has always been adventure, Jean-Etienne's diverse background includes more than a decade of experience in agile methodology, web-based technology and entrepreneurship. Prior to founding Wopata, Jean-Etienne held a Systems Engineer role at Harris, an american firm, where he worked as part of the Broadcast Communication division to simplify the content creation, management, distribution, and delivery process for broadcast, cable, satellite, telecommunications, and other media content providers.

On a personal front, Jean-Etienne is an avid adventurer having pursued his passion in over 30 countries.

    Gennevilliers 2004 - 2008 1. Designed and developed a multilingual documentary language module, including a thesaurus:
    * Standardization: analyzed ISO/NISO Z39.19 standards
    * Design: performed feasibility study (POC) and constraints analysis
    * Web Services: implemented component-based application in .NET

    2. Technical management of 3 projects – worth 80,000+ Euros each – during 1,5 year.
    * Publishing: designed and implemented PLXML component, a publishing layer on top of in-house Object-Relational Mapping framework
    * Customization: designed the customization of different databases: defined documentary models with archivists (European Parliament , RTL Belgium and Radio Suisse-Romande), designed applications workflow and communication protocols with other outsourced software

    2000 - 2004 Designed and developed a multilingual search engine for a video archives management system.
    * Gathered requirements of the customer’s needs (INA – French National Institute for video archives, RTL Belgium, Radio Suisse Romande) on site.
    * Performed feasibility study (POC) and constraints analysis.
    * Applied agile principles in development process allowing incremental, adaptive delivery in a rapidly changing startup environment: frequent build and release cycles, refactoring, constant communication and lightweight generated documentation.
    * Researched on globalization: English, Hungarian, French, Asian Languages.
    * Implemented search engine and integrated an outsourced full-text tool.
    * Integrated multilingual thesaurus.

    SURESNES 1999 - 1999 Performed a comparative study of various communication systems (DECS, Notes Pump/LEI, LSX), for interaction between the database system and Lotus Notes Domino R5.
