I spent the most part of my career working in the software industry for service companies and industrial clients (Dassault, Texas Instruments, Ingenia/Decan, Thomson, France Telecom, Gemplus) . All the positions I held were technical (developer, analyst, software architect, project manager) and I often played a "technical evangelist" role, if that makes any sense.
I've had a very strong and enriching 4-year experience in a small software company called Calendra, a place where the Project was more important than the other issues …
In 2004 I took a big break and studied on a sustainable development program and ended up going to Niger in Agadez for two months to install and develop an autonomous and local organization that shared Internet bandwidth between schools, administrations and private actors.
For almost 2 years now, I've been on my own (HumanWare) doing consulting and training around technologies and subjects such as UP, UML, SOA, JEE/Java, C++, XML. I'm working with industrial clients, service companies and software editors (DCNS, Amadeus, Thalès, Neotys, Eurocopter). I often work through training companies (EvolutionMultimedia, Oxiane) with whom I have formal partnerships.
I'm also giving several courses at a Toulon based engineering school (ISEN), subjects include UML, Design Patterns, J2EE and C++.
I'm really enjoying my independence, the travelling (latest one in Romania) and the now much more human related aspects of my job.
When I was younger (much younger!) I lived a long time in South Africa in Johannesburg, a part of family is still down there and I often go down to "Jozie". I want to get some projects going there, making something useful out of technology for people for whom it is apparently out of reach. Knowledge sharing, ELearning, promoting and participating in South/South initiatives are my leitmotivs.
I'm using Viadeo:
- to find consulting and training opportunities in the IT field. I am particularly interested in ones that involve working on short term missions abroad (English and French speaking African countries are of highest interest to me)
- to exchange experiences and ideas, and possibly set up projects involving IT for developing countries (South Africa being my main objective)
