Curious by nature, my interests are wide and varied and perhaps a little random.
I love the smell of flowers, Georges Bataille, paintings by Chardin and his place in art, the whys, wherefores and word games of Pierre Desproges, Bjork and her husband, well, their work, the Shadocks, the British sense of humour, John Cleese’s French accent, watching a man buying noodles for two hours in the rain, In the Mood for Love and coriander.
I love my profession and reflecting on the possibilities afforded by the use of new technologies and medias.
I am passionate about the impact of ancestry and the weight of history on our daily life. I come from a family of French colonials in the Indian Ocean (Mauritius, Reunion Island, Madagascar), and this explains it.
I have a mixed race culture, son of Zanatany (child of Madagascan earth) and this pervades my spirit.
I especially like not keeping anything for a special occasion.
My professional life started strangely enough, after my diploma in the beaux arts (5 years in all!), when I became in charge of communications and webmaster in a little town in the Essonne region.
After this I decided to work for a Sign agency and subsequently, became set designer and animator for a series of the Shadocks. Then smash, bang, wallop it was 2001, the odyssey of the world trade centre and the beginning of a rather tough period. Design for scooters (at that time the European world was getting around on scooters, what an era!) and stands.
My left hemisphere having been twitching, I decided to become an art teacher and spent two years in a school in the “hot” suburbs of the Paris region.
Having left the door ajar, I slipped out to create Cyanéa in January 2005 after a few months preparation.
