Sébastien Scala

Spécialiste des non-conformités aéronautiques et de check de stress report

Others

Degree qualified stress engineer with more than 14 years continuous experience in the aerospace sector, I'm a specialist of the Non-Conformities, concessions and DQNs.

Experienced in Structural Hand Calculation and in finite element analysis using MSC/NASTRAN.

Work mainly involves the preparation of Design and Detailed Stress Analysis Reports on main airframe structures including fuselage skins, stringers and frames or wing structures both metallic and composite using Mathcad and Excel.

Able to perform a full stress analysis from FEM creation to hand calculation using classical literature as Bruhn, Niu or ESDU. Good knowledge of fatigue and damage tolerance. Able to handle CATIA V5.

Posses a good overview of FAL processes and production environment, more specifically I'm an expert in Concessions and DQNs.

I provide my engineering services in handling Aircraft non-conformities.

My domain of expertise throughout the steps of the NCs:

- the initial analysis of the non-conformity and the decision to be taken about the process to handle it: to scrap a single part, to raise a concession or a DQN, or to rework as per drawing.

- the selection of the most appropriated technical answer to the the non-conformity, considering the industrial aspect as well as the rules of design, and the stress (static and F&DT) limitations.

- the detailled stress justification: COS document under SAP.

- The process analysis from a quality point of view: fullfilling AP2006 procedure, choice of suffixes, ...
