Rémi Burdairon has been the Chief Executive Officer of Louis Dreyfus Commodities Africa (Pty) Ltd in Johannesburg, since 1998.

After graduating in International Commerce in 1985, from a leading French business school (EPSCI, ESSEC), Rémi Burdairon started his career in the financial markets in London, UK. In 1987, he moved into agricultural commodities when he joined the Louis Dreyfus Group headquarters in Paris. After a brief experience, at Sucres et Denrées, he was recruited in 1991 by a major French agricultural co-operative, Champagne Céréales in Reims, to set-up their grain-trading subsidiary. In 1994, he re-joined Louis Dreyfus, in Madrid, Spain, where he was in charge of all international trading operations.

Born in Senegal, Remi Burdairon has spent more than 16 years in Africa. He is a member of the French Foreign Trade Advisor (CCEF) for the French authorities. He is also part of the Executive Committee of South African Cereals & Oilseeds Trade Association (SACOTA), chairman of the Transport Working Group, as well as member of the South African Futures Exchange – SAFEX - Agricultural Products Division Advisory Committee. He is an Executive Director of the Southern African Bio fuels Association (SABA).

He is married with 3 children. He is fluent in French and English and speaks Spanish.
