Medication non-compliance (the failure to take medications as directed)is a widely recognized complication in efforts to increase pharmaceutical revenues, speed drugs development, improve drug effectiveness and contain health care costs, yet it has remained untouched by innovative solutions.
The key to the system is that once a user is “prompted” to take a medication they cannot simply disengage the prompt by depressing a button (like current solutions). In Quand’s system the user MUST match the correct package to the correct phone to disengage the prompt. If they do not, the system automatically re-adjusts the delivery schedule, based on the parameters of the drug, and reprompts until such time as the user matches the correct package. The technology is an intelligent interactive digital tracking system, not simply a reminder device. The unique feature of this system is that it can be used with any type of medication packaging and can manage multiple medications at the same time while providing warnings for drug conflicts and contra-indicators.
