I started as an industrial software engineer when it was in its infancy and thank god a few skills went a long way then. My forte turned out to be contract,project and programme management though and I bounced around engineering for years until I was managing my own operation. To be honest, I became bored of the limited culture and wanted to improve my knowledge and skills in the bigger world but also bring some of engineering's strengths into a bigger market place. Whether with Tyco or beyond afterwards, six sigma and Prince 2 will help acheive that.
Potentially looking to be part of small consulstancy in a few years time.
