INPES (French Institute for Prevention and Health Education) is a public establishment under the Ministry for Health and Welfare, in charge of implementing national programmes for prevention and health education. Project manager in Scientific Affairs Department Drug addiction national prevention programme From January 2005: Co-ordinator of the Drug addiction national prevention programme. > Developed and maintained up-to-date intelligence on drug addiction prevention and drove collaborative work with key opinion leaders and decision-makers - Benchmarked and conducted external research on worldwide prevention practices (Needle exchange programme, Substitution, Drug prevention in schools, Reduction of drug-related infectious diseases) to influence the national action plan against illicit drugs, tobacco and alcohol. - Analysed the French context on epidemiological, legal, political and institutional aspects. - Conducted surveys to better understand people’s behaviours, opinions, knowledge and attitudes against drugs: author of the chapter on Drugs in “Baromètre santé 2005 INPES” (the Health Barometer: a temperature check conducted every four years) - Collaborated with institutions (the Ministry for Health and Welfare, the Interministerial Mission to Fight against Drugs and Drug Addiction), agencies (media and communication agencies, market-research firms) and associations (National Association of Drug Addiction Workers, French Federation of Addictology) on health education projects. - Participated in national seminars to present the INPES programme and represent the Institute. > Launched and implemented successfully first national media campaign on cannabis prevention (2005-2006) - Developed communication strategies targeting various audiences (parents, young adults and young addicts) to inform them on risks of cannabis usage and to reduce misconceptions. - Conducted mass communication and advertising campaign (TV, radio, newspapers in Feb 2005 - budget: 3M£): wrote briefs and contributed to the selection of the communication agency. - Defined communication tools: created leaflets through a collaborative approach, organized and led workshops with experts (two leaflets targeting parents and young adults, guide to quit cannabis). - Assessed efficiency and relevancy of the campaign through pre-tests and post-tests. > Set up drug prevention programme at school (2004-2006) - As a Steering Committee member, contributed to the success of an experimental health education programme at school: participated in the writing of a guide for contributors, took an active part in the test phase carried out in five educational districts. It was rolled out to all French schools in September 2006. | |
