MY UNIVERSITY PATH, MY PROFESSIONAL AMBITIONS
I started my university experience at Sonoma State University where I served as student representative of the university on a statewide scale. After having obtained my degree in Communications and Political Science from this fine Liberal Arts institution in 2000, I moved to Paris, France to equip myself with the skills necessary to advance professionally in the international community.
I taught myself French by using Paris as my classroom and taught English (French Senate, CNRS...) to generate an income. Three years subsequent to my arrival in France, I enrolled at the University of Paris 2 in Information and Communication (or Media Studies) in autumn of 2004. I received an honorable mention (in French: BIEN). The marks received allowed me to enroll in the Master's program of Media and Mondialisation in October of 2005.
I spend the summer like I have spent all summers the last five years: teaching tennis with Nike Tennis Camps and other prestigous camps and private clubs. (I have been playing tennis for fifteen years and have been professionally teaching since the age of 18.)
I have since completed a very rigorous exam season in the Masters program and am preparing a dissertation, which I will present in late June on the passage of analog television to digital television. Provided all goes well, the end of August 2006 will mark the obtention of my Masters in Paris as well as the completion of two 90-page reports, the first on the role of the radio in Rwanda during the genocide in 1994.
My studies in Paris, where I have learned at the feet of world renowned professors, have equipped me with a solid base in the theories of globalization (dating from the second world war), the effects of the media, the sociology and economy of the media, contemporary propaganda, the history of the French press and the future of the media.
I am currently seeking an employer who could benefit from my university knowledge and my foreign language experience, while providing a challenging work environment in an international setting.
Cheers,
