Being technical manager in a sales office abroad is not only an interesting professional experience, but also a cultural one. Definition of the spec, negociation of prices in another language with people thinking differently is quite challenging.
My interest for this job grew even more since I am taking part in the strategical decision for both the sales and the organisation.

Responsible for the technical dpt for Leroy-Somer in Denmark (2 persons), for the so called "drive systems" (gear, motor, VFD). In charge of developing the sales in variable speed and new technology (permanent magnet motors). The products are becoming more and more "integrated", meaning that factories are more and more trying to use the expertise of their supplier to have them to deliver product with added functions - one of the main purpose of this technical dpt in a sales office is to define the best technical and commercial solution for an application. This often includes coordination between the customer R&D and Leroy-Somer R&D. As a member of the management team set up during this year, I am taking part to the strategical decision regarding the sales and the organisation of the office. | |
