An ECE graduate in June 2002, I began looking for a position in the Perfume and Beauty Products sector as Junior Product Manager.
For lack of a degree from a prominent institute, I soon realized that I would not find much of a job, especially in Paris.
I thus left for London where I had a couple of contacts.
I began work in the Customer Services department at eFinancialCareers, an online recruitment site belonging to the Financial News group that had recently been launched in the UK.
I gradually moved up the career ladder in this fast-growing company, becoming Customer Manager a few months later for the French Website that was launched not long after.
I then became the French site Manager (ww.efinancialcareers.fr) and was recently appointed Marketing Manager at the head of a team of 5 marketers + 2 interns.
I am not at all working in the area I was initially interested in (perfumes) but I have been through a fascinating experience, especially since I saw a company go from 8 employees to over 150 in 3 years! My advice: stay open to all kinds of offers, don’t hesitate to relocate (region, country) and do not be to demanding in terms of salary, especially for a first job, or in terms of area of activity! One rarely finds the ideal job the first time round...
