I became an IT Architect over time and with the various work experiences I encountered. Being curious and willing (hungry) to learn, my job is fulfilling me. I like a lot contacts with clients and collègues and my job taught me when to listen and when to ask questions.
One of the lessons from my education is that you will never learn everything but I know where to find the information I need. As a result I became addicted to local search engines ala Google Desktop, Copernic, Ask Jeeves, Yahoo!Desktop ou Exalead OneDesktopto retrieve information in my huge electronic library (several GB of presentations and documents gathered over time during seminars, preparation and discussions).
Java, C++, Smalltalk are programming languages that helped me structure my thinking. Then came J2EE which helped me understand enterprise applications. The complexity of software offerings on the market lead me to application architecture and later enterprise architecture, that I discovered at IBM. After I got exposed to ESB, SOA, city planning... while at IBM, Sonic Software and BEA Systems. Oracle bought BEA on April 29. I expect to join Oracle Belgium on July 31 with my colleagues. A new world is opening!
Froma personal viewpoint, I am a family man and that keeps me busy. When I have some time, I surf the net, do some gardening or some reading. Some biking and tennis helps me stay fit. On holiday, I like windsurfing, feeling the wind in my sail, gliding on the water, it is a great sensation.
If you like local traditions, have a look at my town web site (www.binche.com) and its famous carnival (www.carnavaldebinche.be - happening on Feb 3, 4 and 5 2008). This year is a year of change, I am moving to a new house in a village named Estinnes-Au-Mont (http://www.estinnes.be)
