Goodyear Proving Ground, San Angelo,Texas HR Manager 07/06-Present - Union Free facility (90 associates) - Member of leadership team composed of Plant Manager, Accounting Manager, Chief Engineer and Human Resources Manager. - 2 direct reports: Training & Safety Coordinator and Purchasing Manager Training: Develop partnership with local training institute and build a proposal for a grant that would enable Goodyear associates to get free training (in progress). Created a training request form in order to help track department needs and prioritize those needs from a business critical perspective. Manage the 360 Feedback Process: this program is designed, on the basis of feedback from peers, superiors and direct reports, to create an individual plan that will enhance and develop management skills. Safety/Health/Ergonomics: Created 4 new prevention programs for 2007 to reduce workers’ compensation payments. Maximize associate involvement: Highlighted the importance of the Safety Committee, and encouraged associates to report safety issues, with a goal of decreasing absenteeism due to injury. Created a communication committee for 2007 to improve relationship between leadership and associates. Union free environment: Created a union free campaign plan to cope with existing threat of unionization at the Goodyear Proving Grounds. Cooperated with legal department on how to educate associates about the benefits of remaining union free. Recruitment: Manage recruitment process (from job posting to hiring). Focus on candidates who fit with a High Performance Organization culture. Experience with strikes in other unionized Goodyear facilities: Reorganized different departments during the strike (needs assessment and personnel transfer), created a list of volunteers (in order to help the unionized facilities continue to serve the customers), served as first point of contact with Headquarters. Benefits: Managed the annual enrollment processes (help associates with enrollment on website; communicate the changes for 2007, etc). Exit: Manage exit processes (resignations, retirement, and terminations). Policy manual: updated the document and reinforced the smoking and attendance policies in response to excessive casual absenteeism and the danger of second-hand smoke. Manage the disciplinary process in case of non-compliance (in progress). Affirmative Action Plan: analyzed workforce and develop plans to meet desired diversity ratios. Communication: created a communication center for the associates and set up birthday meeting (meeting held on the associate’s birthday, designed to better know associates and get a candid feedback on the facility). Purchasing: check contractor’s liability insurance level in order to be compliant with the Goodyear policy. Develop benchmarking process with the purpose of reducing purchasing costs. Process Implementation: - Manage Migration from AME system (Hourly system) to Merit system (based on performance) - Build local succession planning that feeds the national succession plan. - Build high performance teams: assess team, analyze and put training plan in place (in cooperation with corporate training center) in order to get associates to a self directed mode. - Manage 2007 Performance Management Process. Personal Development: Developed relationship with other US plants (visit to Beaumont chemical plant in September 2006). Nominee for 2006-2007 San Angelo Leadership program (9 months program).
