Part of the internationally renowned VTR plc post-production group, The Machine Room is a leader in online digital asset management, film restoration and effects work servicing the broadcast, archive and advertising sector. Starting as a software engineer, I was promoted to Head of Technology responsible for the company’s substantial technical infrastructure, design and bid work.

Key achievements include:
• Lead programmer for major EU initiative, eTITLE, an automated subtitling system, using C++, SOAP, XML, JAVA, PHP, AJAX and MSQL Server on Windows and Unix platforms. The work took 18 months to build by programmers based in London and Barcelona, was delivered on time and to budget ($2 millions invested) and was awarded gold-plated standard by the EU.
• Head of Technology for the department: Responsibilities include managerial decisions on new features (deadlines and priorities), customer presentations and pre-sales consultation involving requirements gathering, proof of concept and customisation of core products for clients such as Universal, Paramount, Waitrose, KFC, MTV Technologies, RBS.
• Technical reference for developers (advice and training) and code optimisation (increasing reliability, general performance, speed and security)

Sector: Multimedia - Internet

With offices in France, USA, Denmark, Germany & Japan, VIGILANTe provides security testing software and managed vulnerability assessment services world wide. Working in security area leads to continually being up-to-date of new technologies and to be highly reactive. Initially working as network software programmer I became Product Manager responsible for the conception and delivery of Vigilante product’s weekly updates and new versions.

Key achievements include:
• Development of network vulnerabilities and client/server network libraries (C++) on all kinds of network protocols for third generation vulnerability scanners (SecureScan NX and SP). The first version of SecureScan NX took 24 months to build and has been referenced as a major product of its category (http://www.nss.co.uk/grouptests/va/edition2/vigilante/vigilante_securescan.htm).
• Product Manager for the conception and the follow through security updates, upgrades and new versions for various customers and providers.
• Responsible for training new network vulnerabilities programmers and analysts (people who were in charge to collect new security weaknesses).
• Conception, integration, securing and servicing of the company’s intranet, to coordinate and manage all the product workflow (documentation, analysis, development and QA).
• DBA of Vigilante products and company databases (SQL server and SQL anywhere).

Sector: Software publishers

Apart from operational missions (security and humanitarian operations) I was responsible for the upkeep of defence equipment, while developing computer tools for the regiment (Office suite, VB).

Sector: Public Services - Administration

After an exhaustive study in Collective Artificial Intelligence (Neurones Network, Genetic Algorithm, Multi-Agents System, Artificial Life) I developed an original neurones network algorithm using a local and “uncognitive” (not related to a specific problem) criteria like the “cooperation” for the valuation of each synapse (implementation in C++ in a turn-by-turn board game).

Conceive and test a new extractor module for the visible cine-camera of the “Rafale” fighter planes embedded electronic unit (Development in C and Assembler on SPARC UNIX consol).
