You can search for people or a specific company under the Members tab. You can also use the Alumni page to find old school friends and former classmates.

Searches are based on the information members provide in their Viadeo profiles and in their company information. This is why having a full and complete profile is vital for being found on the site.

Use the different fields in the advanced search such as the 'Keywords' field to narrow your search to the specific people you are looking for.

The fields you can search include:

• Name e.g. Bill Jones
• Industry e.g. hospitality
• Company e.g. Viadeo
• Current company only e.g. someone who currently works at Viadeo
• Job title e.g. Marketing Director (in the past, or present)
• Current job title only e.g. currently a Marketing Director
• City or Post/Zip code
• Country e.g. Scotland
• School/University
• Registered e.g. to find new contacts who have registered on the site in the past week
• Les profils en (Français, Anglais, Espagnol) : si vous désirez limiter la recherche aux membres ayant un profil en Français, Anglais, Espagnol
• Choose a community i.e. to limit a member search to a specific community that you are a member of

Search effectively and efficiently by combining these search criteria. For example, if you work in accounting in London, you could search for 'accounting' professionals based in 'London' who have registered 'In the past month'.

Save individual profiles you come across by using the tag and note functions. For example, you can tag profiles: 'to call', 'family', 'prospective client'. You can then use the notes to add: 'call later this month to discuss x y z ...'. You can quickly access the list of profiles you've saved in this way by clicking 'Members > Saved Profiles'.

Once you are connected to people, you can tag them directly in your 'Contacts' list.

Save your searches, and choose to receive search results directly by email. To do this, just tick the box that appears at the bottom of your search results.
