Of course...Your address book and your own email address, are kept completely confidential and no one can access them. Your network of contacts is also confidential. Only the individual paths leading from one person to another appear on Viadeo.
Only your contacts can see the email address on your profile, and - if you decide to enable this function - they will also be able see your own network of contacts.

These are the members that constitute the first level of your network. In other words the persons you invited to join Viadeo or with whom you have established contact through Viadeo. Your contacts have their own contacts which are your second level contacts and so on.

You network consists of all of the contacts of your contacts, up to 4 levels:

• Level 1: your contacts.
• Level 2: the contacts of your contacts.
• Level 3: the contacts of the contacts of your contacts.
• Level 4: the contacts of the contacts of the contacts of your contacts.

You may only connect via introduction requests with Viadeo members at a maximum of 4 levels from you. Otherwise, you can request to connect. You can check how many connections you have left on your account on the 'Subscription' page.

Invite new persons to become your contacts, whether or not they are members of Viadeo, and increase the number of your contacts. You only need their email address invite them. If they accept your invitation, then they will then be one of your contacts.

An Introduction Request enables you to connect with a person you do not know by leveraging your network. You write out your introduction - business opportunity, business proposal, job offer etc - and ask your contacts to forward your demand to the final recipient. It is as simple as that.

With a Connection Request, you can directly connect with someone you do not know even when they are not part of your network. First write out your request - business opportunity, business proposal, job offer etc - and send it directly to the recipient, without passing through your network.

The Connection Request credit is limited to 10 Connection Requests when you first join. Thereafter, if you would like to subscribe for Premium Services you will receive additional Connection Request credits.

In addition, if you subscribe for Premium membership, your Viadeo account will be credited with additional Connection Request credits:

• For a subscription of 3 months, your account will be credited with 10 additional Connection Requests.
• For a subscription of 12 months: 40 Connection Requests
• For a subscription of 24 months: 100 Connection Requests

If you want more Connection Request credits, Viadeo recommends purchase additional Connection Request Packs , which will be added to those available via your Premium Subscription.

Please note: you can see how many Connection Request credits remain on your account at any time on the page 'subscription' (on the section on the left).Finally, are you aware that your unused Connection Requests remain valid and can be used at any time, without limit.

This is your identity card or passport on Viadeo. You describe who you are, describe your career path and education, your skills and interests. The more you detail your add to your profile, the more requests for contact you are likely to receive from Viadeo members.

In a system based on the trust and confidence in contacts, it is useful to ask your contacts (former employer, clients, suppliers, etc.) to type a recommendation for you, which adds credibility to your profile. You can also recommend your contacts.

If you are looking for a supplier, a client, an expert, a financial partner, etc. Then Viadeo allows you to broadcast your request via an ad that all members can see. Members may also forward the ad to their own network of connections thereby greatly increasing the audience for your ad.

To find someone, use the search engine and enter the keywords for your search. The search engine will display the list of corresponding members and you can then view their profile and invite them to connect.

Go to the Statistics page to see the size of your network and see the breakdown by sector, profession and geography.

All Viadeo members can view your public profile. However, you can decide that your surname will not be visible on your public profile in the section 'My Profile', 'My Account' and 'Preferences'.

All Viadeo members within four degrees from you (level 4) you can contact you through their network using an Introduction Request. If each member in the path agrees to forward the request then it will reach you via one of your contacts. You can also allow members to send you Connection Requests.

You can also add a warning message to highlight the kind of connection requests that you will accept in the section 'My Profile' 'My Account' and 'Preferences'.

Your contacts may also send you ads that they think might interest you.

If you wish, you can allow recruiters and headhunters to send you job offers according to your profile, skills and experience.

You can register 2 email addresses in Viadeo. Simply register with one of the two addresses, by going to the "Profile: My account: Email and Password" section and add another email address in the field provided at the end of the window.

You will be able to use the second email address once you have confirmed it, i.e. once you have clicked on the link in the confirmation message that we will send you to this address.

Once you have confirmed the second email address, your colleagues who have this address in their address books will see that you are a member and can invite you. However, your address remains confidential, which means that if a person only knows one of your email addresses, they will not be able to see the other.

You can use either addresses to connect, as your password being the same for both.

The main address is used by Viadeo to send you emails to inform you of invitations. You can change your main address to receive messages in a different mailbox from the one you gave when you registered.

Go to the "My Profile" section under "My Account" and click on "Email and Password."
Add a second email address and then confirm it by clicking on the link in the email message Viadeo will send you.
Then click on the link "Make this the main address" next to the address

You can then either delete the other address or keep on the site as an alternative email.

Remember you will only receive Viadeo messages on your Main email address.

You can decide whether or not to accept Connection Requests in your 'My Profile' 'My Account' in the 'Preferences' under 'Accept Connection Requests'.

Your contacts will serve as a filter for Introduction Request, because they can always refuse to forward a request.

Registration and the basic features of Viadeo are free. This will always be the case. However, Premium Services and Connection Request Packs require a payment. For more details please see the section entitled  Premium Subscription .

Viadeo is compatible with all modern browsers: Netscape version 6 and above, Internet Explorer version 5 and above, Opera, Firefox and Safari.

The function for importing an Outlook address book ( My Contacts: Import Contacts: Import Outlook) will only work with Microsoft Internet Explorer. Alternatively, you can import address books with the Import File or Import Webmail Contacts options (My contacts: Import Contacts: Import File - Import Webmail)
